The American Friends of the Warburg Institute (AFWI)

Promoting the Institute in North America and helping members to keep in touch.

The American Friends of the Warburg Institute (AFWI) exists to keep members in touch with new developments at the Institute and to promote the Institute in North America. To this end it organizes occasional functions in New York. AFWI has been granted tax-exempt status by the US Internal Revenue Service, and has to date raised more than $200,000 to support the Library, the Kress Visiting Fellowship and student bursaries.

The AFWI has an Honorary Committee of distinguished persons who support its aims, including Umberto Eco, Vartan Gregorian, Laurence Kanter, Patricia H. Labalme, Marilyn Perry, Joan Rosenbaum and John Walsh.

The officers of the New York Council are currently:
