Enriqueta Harris Frankfort Bequest

New shelving at the end of the Photo Collection has allowed us to bring together in one place the notes, papers, letters and photographs of Enriqueta Harris Frankfort, Curator of the Photographic Collection from 1949 to 1971, and one of the most admired writers on Spanish painting of her generation.

All her working papers were left to the Warburg Institute with the request that they be kept together as a resource for future historians of Spanish art. At a time when research on Spanish painting in this country is being rejuvenated by the foundation of the Spanish Art Gallery and Research Centre in Bishop Auckland, Enriqueta’s bequest provides rich documentation on many artists, especially El Greco, Velázquez, Murillo and Goya.
