American Friends of the Warburg Institute
The American Friends of the Warburg Institute (AFWI) exists to promote the Warburg in North America and keep members in touch with all developments at the Institute through regular communications and occasional functions in America.
The representatives of the AFWI Board are currently:
President: Daniel Javitch
Treasurer: Jonathan Kagan
Secretary: Tanya Pollard
Officer: John Adams
The AFWI continue to raise vital funding to support the Warburg and fund two annual scholarships that enable North American students to study on the Institute’s MA programmes. During the 2014 court case, the group and its members came to the Institute’s aid with a large donation to support legal fees, which was crucial in securing a landmark victory for the Warburg. Most recently, the AFWI generously pledged $250,000 to support the Warburg Renaissance building project. As well as this, they have funded conservation and staffing costs for the Library, visiting fellowships and occasional events.
The AFWI group have been granted tax-exempt status by the US Internal Revenue Service and can facilitate tax-efficient giving for US residents to the Warburg Institute.
