Classical Greek - Intermediate

Short Course

The Warburg Institute offers an eight-session online intermediate language course across the Autumn Term 2020, aimed at those who have some grounding in Classical Greek. It is expected that students will already have a decent grasp of nouns, pronouns, adjectives and verbs (active forms in the present, future, imperfect and aorist tenses, and present, future and aorist participles). We will be using John Taylor's Greek to GCSE (Part 2), and linguistic coverage will entail (inter alia) middle and passive voices in various tenses and a range of constructions. During the course we will also read together extracts from ancient Greek literature and consider the continued use and role of the language in the early modern period.

Registration and payment (for 8 classes across the Autumn Term):
  • Warburg students, staff and fellows: £75
  • School of Advanced Study students, staff and fellows: £90
  • LAHP-funded students (non-SAS): £90
  • Standard rate: £160

Mondays, 5 October - 30 November 2020 (excluding 2 November)
Tutor: Dr Lucy Nicholas
Via Zoom
