Access and Security
When visiting the Library for the first time, please check above to see what you need to bring with you in order to request a reader's card.
The Library is a reference-only collection and books may not be borrowed.
Bags are not permitted in the Library and collections. All bags should be stored in a locker before entering the Library. Ask at the Reading Room desk if you would like to buy a clear plastic bag to hold your belongings.
Large suitcases, holdalls and rucksacks are not permitted in the Institute. Bags must be small enough to be stored in a locker (41 x 24 x 42 cm). There are left luggage facilities at Euston, Kings Cross and St Pancras International rail stations where larger luggage may be stored while you visit the Library.
Although incidents are extremely rare, valuable items should not be left unattended in the Library. The Warburg Institute accepts no responsibility if such items are damaged or stolen while in the Library.
A buzzer is sounded 20 minutes and 10 minutes before the library closes. Please make sure that you leave promptly at closing time.
