Dr. Barbara Furlotti,  Associate Lecturer at The Courtauld, embarks on a research journey from January to June 2024, visiting Berlin, Rome, and London under the Census x Hertziana x Warburg Fellowship. This collaboration, initiated in 2022, expanded in 2023 to include the Warburg Institute.

A renowned scholar in the history of collecting and antiquarianism, Dr. Furlotti's research project, True Lies: Restorations, Reproductions, and Fake Antiquities, will revisit the Renaissance approach to art authenticity. Inspired by Enea Vico's 1555 classification of false antique coins, her research will look to challenge contemporary perceptions of forgeries, focusing on Renaissance restoration practices and their impact on antiquities.
