Rhetoric and Tradition: A Celebration of Peter Mack

A symposium celebrating the life and work of Peter Mack will take place on Saturday 1 November 2025 at the University of Warwick.
Hosted across several venues at Warwick’s Arts Centre and Faculty of Arts Building, the day will feature talks and reflections from speakers including Jennifer Richards, Rita Copeland, Manfred Kraus, Paul Botley, Henry Woudhuysen, Andrew Hadfield, Graeme Macdonald, Rebecca Earle, David Morley, Jeremy Treglown, Paul Hills, and members of Peter Mack’s family.
The programme includes a roundtable on Peter’s scholarship, a plenary lecture by Brian Cummings, and a reading and discussion of Peter’s essays. Coffee, lunch, and a wine reception will be provided.
The event is jointly funded by the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance and the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick, the Society for Renaissance Studies, and the Warburg Institute.
We warmly invite all colleagues, friends, and former students of Peter Mack to join us in celebrating his legacy.
