The Warburg Institute is delighted to announce the recipients of its inaugural Assetto Fellowships, awarded to a cohort of creative practitioners for 2025–2026.

Part of the Warburg Renaissance, a major transformation project that has introduced new spaces including a public gallery, 100-seat auditorium, and a dedicated centre for special collections, the Assetto Fellowships mark a significant expansion of the Institute’s engagement with contemporary art and interdisciplinary practice.

Each fellow will receive a grant of £10,000 and access to a private workspace, alongside being given the time and resources to research and develop their practice in the context of the Institute’s collections, research community and artistic programme.

The inaugural cohort includes Emii Alrai, Davide Bugarin, Suzanne Treister and creative partnership Time is Away (Jack Rollo and Elaine Tierney). Their diverse practices encompass visual art, architectural design, sound, cybernetics, cultural history, and science fiction, reflecting the Institute’s aim to foster innovative intersections between historical inquiry and contemporary culture.

The fellows were selected through a combination of nominations by the Warburg’s Curatorial Advisory Board and an open call. By encouraging cross-disciplinary dialogue, the Assetto Fellowships aim to nurture an institutional culture where art, research, and teaching intertwine to enrich the Institute’s intellectual landscape.

Supported by the Assetto family, these fellowships reflect a shared belief in the value of independent thought and cultural innovation at the Warburg Institute.
