The Warburg Institute is delighted to have received a grant of £35,000 from The Headley Trust towards both the conserving and sharing of its Collections. Part of this funding has been allocated to much-needed work on the photographic negatives in our Photographic Collection. The Collection includes ca 3,300 glass negative plates of different sizes, mostly from the first half of the twentieth century, which are currently kept in a variety of old and often decaying cardboard containers. Over the next month-and-a-half, Victoria Haddock from Max Digitisation and Archiving Services will rehouse these historically valuable negatives, as well as some of our later film negatives, individually wrapped in archival storage boxes to ensure their long-term preservation.
